#27 Heating with ice - climate-saving building technology

Our interview with Klaus Schnepf, Founder and Managing Director of PG Schnepf which is one of the leading planning groups for energy technology. We interviewed him in Nagold on the 15th of June on the Climate Pioneer World Tour.

They do modern and innovative energy system: heating pump, solar, and wind.

They invented an ice bank machine. The cool water will be saved in winter and then made to ice after that you can use it to cool the house in summer. And of course you have the solar panels on the roof, which makes the house complete self-sufficient. If you want to know more, listen to this interview.

#26 Learning from sunflowers to improve solar use of land area

Manuel Ehnes is only 15 years old but already invented a solar solution. He thought that solar energy is great but solar plants take up too much space, so he invented a system where individual solar cells are arranged spirally around a rod, like steps of a spiral staircase or a sunflower. The solar cells don’t cover each other and save space.

#23 Energy cooperative Liestal

Find our interview with Andreas Appenzeller, board member of ADEV, controlling special projects from the 21st day of the Climate Pioneer World Tour, in Liesthal, Switzerland.

You can learn more about great inventions in the sector in this video, such as bi-direction charging, your house can of course generate renewable energy and charge the car, but can you imagine that you could also get power from the car in case needed at night or anytime?? Listen to the interview to find out more.

ADEV develops and operates solar power plants, small hydropower plants, wind turbines as well as heating centers and local heating networks. Their innovative projects have shaped Switzerland’s sustainable energy supply for over thirty years. They own around 120 production plants, which together generate over 50 million kilowatt hours of energy every year.

#20 Solar windows

Interview with Rubén Roldán Molinero, CEO and co-founder of iWin. iWin is a Swiss company that produces photovoltaic windows, turning multi-story buildings into solar power plants.

A façade is no longer only a passive element ensuring waterproofing, insulation and ventilation, but also an active surface, able to produce renewable energy to reach the nearly Zero Energy Buildings (nZEBs) premises.

To know more about iWin: https://iwin.ch The video was recorded in the SolarButterfly, a solar powered tiny home and video studio, in Ticino, on the Mendrisio event of the Climate Pioneer World Tour. #18 Folding solar roofs

On the 14th day of the SolarButterfly Climate Pioneer World Tour, Louis Palmer interviewed Peter Kasper, the CEO of DHP in our solar-powered mobile video studio. This company produces solar folding roofs which you can put over waste water or parking spots or any other places where you want to double the usability of your area.

Peter Kasper said, “if you have a bigger area where you produce something or that you use for basically anything, you can get our folding roof to produce energy on that exact same place. The good thing about our system is that it is very light and it keeps the open space, you can keep using the space underneath however you like.”
